Livingston, Texas – The Trinity River Authority is advising initial repairs to the Lake Livingston Dam Spillway will be completed Monday afternoon prior to the arrival of major flooding from Beryl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Crews have been working around the clock to repair the dam\u2019s spillway which was damaged from recent flooding. On June 28th the river authority released a declaration of a “potential failure watch.\u201d A Dam Damage Assessment was implemented to address the issues in accordance with Federal guidelines regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The River Authority stated \u201cthe dam will be able to pass high-flow events without impacting the integrity of the dam.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2017 a spillway failure at the Oroville Dam in California resulted in the evacuation of over 180,000 people downstream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
